Its origins are lost in legend, it was inhabited by the Romans  and it was once one of the maritime republics of Italy with Genoa, Pisa and Venice. Amalfi  is a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its beauty.  With its cathedral, the church of Santa Maria, the Cloister of Paradise, the Valley Mills, the Fountain of St. Andrew and the Arsenal of the Republic where it is possible to see Roman and Barbaric remains.
