The park behind the palace of Capodimonte, begun in 1700, contains the porcelain factory of Capodimonte. Not very far from the Royal Palace there is the national archeological museum is a sixteenth century palace built as a cavalry barracks, then the seat of the university; it is adapted to the museum by charles of bourbon that moves here the Farnese collection, enriched later by many works from the excavations at Herculaneum and Pompeii. Among the collections there are bronzes, pottery, gems, objects of common use of the houses of Pompeii, sculptures as: Venere di Capua, the bas-relief of Orpheus and Euridice.
