Naples is centrally located in the homonymous gulf, between Vesuvius and the volcanic area of Campi Flegrei, in an enchanting scenery, the most beautiful and celebrated of the Mediterranean sea. Naples is a city rich of monuments and things to be seen, some of them are listed below: The center of the town is Piazza del Municipio (1800) which incorporates the Church of St. James of the Spanish, the tomb of Don Pedro Alvarez de Toledo. On the south side of the Square, Castel Nuovo, and The Arc de Triomphe. On the bottom of the Square there is the Stazione Marittima jutting into the harbor, one of the largest in Italy for moving goods and passengers and the Teatro S. Carlo started in 1737 and ultimated in 1938. Through Piazza Trieste e Trento you may find Piazza Plebiscito with a curve of columns that ends with the church of S. Francesco di Paola  built, on style of the Pantheon in Rome, by Ferninando I to celebrate the return of Borbons , after the short invasion of Napoleon. In front of it, Palazzo Reale built from 1600-1602 and expanded in neoclassical form in XVIII century, at the bottom of its façade, niches with statues of the eight most important representatives of the dynasties that have reigned over Naples. In the courtyard there is  la porta bronzea, once  included in the arc de triomphe. From Piazza Trieste e Trento it starts Via Toledo that is the most famous street in the city. At its beginning we find the gallery Umberto (late 1800) and piazza della Carita with the Church of St. Nicola to Charity. In Piazza del Gesù there are la Guglia dell’Immacolata and the Monastero of S. Chiara. The church of Santa Chiara is in gothic style, it was built  by the will of Sancha of Majorca wife of Roberto di Angiò. In its courtyard there the poor Clares’ cloister surrounded by a arched portico on octagonal pillars. D.A. Vaccaro adds a naturalistic decoration (eighteenth century), transforming it into an example of eighteenth-century country garden. The Cathedral (1200) which is located in Via del Duomo, was built on an early Christian basilica (V cen.) and retains the original arches of the score into three naves, which overlook different chapels of which the most important is the one of S. Gennaro. The Royal Palace of Capodimonte, started in 1738 by the will of Carlo di Borbone and finished a century later, is the home of the Museum and Galleries of Capodimonte collecting paintings, sculpture, Italian and foreign porcelain, Neapolitan and florentine tapestries, Renaissance bronzes, weapons and armor. The park behind the palace of Capodimonte, begun in 1700, contains the porcelain factory of Capodimonte. Not very far from the Royal Palace there is the national archeological museum is a sixteenth century palace built as a cavalry barracks, then the seat of the university; it is adapted to the museum by charles of bourbon that moves here the Farnese collection, enriched later by many works from the excavations at Herculaneum and Pompeii. Among  the collections there are bronzes, pottery, gems, objects of common use of the houses of Pompeii, sculptures as: Venere di Capua, the bas-relief of Orpheus and Euridice.
